We zijn erg blij om de première van de documentaire ‘KIVA – The Call of the Wisdom Keepers’ met jullie te delen! Inheemse Wisdom Keepers Shirley Krenak (BRA) en Lakota Elder Cheryl Angel (USA) – die afgelopen 4 september een heel bijzondere teaching- en waterceremonie gaven op Ruigoord – hebben een “main voice” in deze documentaire. Tijdens deze unieke KIVA-ceremonie komen Wisdom Keepers van over de hele wereld samen voor Vrede, Verbinding en Moeder Aarde en laat ons zien hoe we de verbinding met haar en met elkaar kunnen herstellen!

Marijke Kodden heeft de afgelopen 4 jaar mogen filmen bij KIVA in Mexico, India (KIVA KumbhaMela), Duitsland en Nederland en maakte vorig jaar samen met Rakinah Buttner en Jaap Verhoeven een prachtige documentaire (56 min.) uit meer dan 100 uur filmmateriaal. Shirley en Cheryl Angel zijn al een paar jaar betrokken bij deze unieke KIVA-ceremonie en Marijke en Rakinah filmden en interviewden hen in de verschillende landen. Hieronder wat meer informatie over de synopsis van de film en de trailer van KIVA Mexico, die Marijke Kodden eind 2018 filmde bovenop een uitgedoofde vulkaan.

De tweede documentaire gaat over de voortdurende strijd van inheemse en zwarte vrouwen in Brazilië. De film volgt de paden van Wisdom Keepers Shirley Krenak en Maria Zelzuita, vrouwen die in de frontlinie van de Braziliaanse strijd om land staan. Shirley heeft de missie om de vrouwen en de wijsheid van de Krenak Warriors, uit de regio Minas Gerais, te eren. ?Maori Wisdom Keeper Toroa Aperahama – (Nieuw-Zeeland)

Toroa werd opgevoed en onderwezen in de tradities van zijn voorouders, door zijn grootmoeder Te Wharehau. Hij werkt zijn hele leven direct zijn Tupuna (voorouders) traditie en beweegt zich aan beide kanten van de fysieke en spirituele werelden. Toroa is sinds 2017 verbonden aan de KIVA-ceremonie. Hij werd uitgenodigd om over te komen uit Nieuw-Zeeland en is sindsdien in Europa gebleven. Na afloop van de vertoning is er de mogelijkheid tot het stellen van vragen over de KIVA. Ook zal Toroa een kort en krachig verhaal delen over zijn tradities.

Inheemse activist. Sinds ze 13 jaar oud was, heeft ze gehoor gegeven aan de oproep van Moeder Aarde om een ​​vertegenwoordiger te zijn van inheemse rechten en vooral te vechten voor het behoud van het milieu en de voorouderlijke spiritualiteit. Synopsis KIVA documentary: In 1968 kreeg medicijnman Raymundo Tigre Perez (Mexico/VS) een visioen. Hij zag inheemse Wisdom Keepers van over de hele wereld verenigd in een cirkelvormige kuil – met een vuur in het hart – een ceremonie uitvoeren. Een spirituele ceremonie voor de aarde, voor vrede en welzijn van alle levende wezens.

Pas later ontdekte hij dat dit een KIVA was: een eeuwenoude ceremonie die al 3000 jaar geleden door de Anasazi werd gebruikt. Honderden inheemse Wisdom Keepers beantwoordden zijn oproep en deze KIVA-ceremonies vinden al meer dan 30 jaar over de hele wereld plaats. We are very happy to announce the Premiere of the documentary ‘KIVA – The Call of the Wisdom Keepers’. Wisdom Keepers Shirley Krenak (BRA) and Lakota Elder Cheryl Angel (USA) – who offered a very special teaching and Waterceremony at Ruigoord last 4th of september – have a ‘main voice’ in this documentary.

At this unique KIVA ceremony Wisdom Keepers from around the world gather for Peace, Connection, and
the benefit of Mother Earth and show us how to heal the connection with her and each other!

Marijke Kodden has been able to film for the past 4 years at KIVA in Mexico, India (KIVA KumbhaMela), Germany and the Netherlands and last year together with Rakinah Buttner and Jaap Verhoeven created a beautiful documentary (56 minutes) from over 100 hours of film material. Shirley and Cheryl Angel have been involved in these unique KIVA Ceremony for a few years and Marijke filmed and interviewed them – together with Rakinah – in the different countries mentioned above. Below a little more information about the synopsis of the film and the trailer of KIVA Mexico, which Marijke Kodden filmed at the end of 2018 on top of an extinct volcano.

The second documentary is about the ongoing struggles of Indigenous and Black women in Brazil. The film follows the paths of Wisdom Keepers Shirley Krenak and Maria Zelzuita, women who are on the front line of the Brazilian land struggle. Shirley has the mission of honoring the women and the wisdom of the Krenak Warriors, from the region of Minas Gerais. Synopsis KIVA documentary:
In 1968, medicine man Raymundo Tigre Perez (Mexico/USA) had a vision. He saw indigenous Wisdom Keepers from all over the world united in a circular pit – with a fire in the heart – performing a ceremony. A spiritual ceremony for the earth, for peace and well-being of all living beings.

Only later did he discover that this was a KIVA, an ancient ceremony already used by the Anasazi 3000 years ago. Hundreds of native Wisdom Keepers answered his call and these KIVA ceremonies have been taking place around the world for more than 30 years. The KIVA ceremony is a collective call from the entire indigenous population: they have never lost touch with nature and with their ancient wisdom they can lead us to a more connected and sustainable way of life!

In this documentary we get a unique view of the KIVA ceremony, where indigenous Wisdom Keepers gather around a sacred fire and express their love via prayers, ancient rituals, songs and dance. But they also share their concern about the care for Mother Nature and humanity! Because of the moving prayers and the impressive conversations with the Wisdom Keepers – the viewer is invited to reflect upon how to heal our relationship with the Earth. ‘Because she is crying and is calling her children home!’

And so the Wisdom Keepers carry out their final call through KIVA ceremonies all over the world. At the same time they bring healing and solutions through their ancient rituals, prayers and indigenous wisdom.

Synopsis Mother of all struggles:
A documentary that connects attacks on land rights with the ongoing struggles of Indigenous and Black women in Brazil. The film follows the paths of Shirley Krenak and Maria Zelzuita, women who are on the front line of the Brazilian land struggle. Shirley has the mission of honoring the women and the wisdom of the Krenak Warriors, from the region of Minas Gerais. Maria Zelzuita is one of the survivors of the Eldorado dos Carajás Massacre, in Pará.

The protagonists of The Mother of All Fights are Maria Zelzuíta, survivor of the Eldorado do Carajás massacre, and, in Minas Gerais, Shirley Krenak, whose life was crossed by the rupture of the Fundão dam, in Bento Rodrigues, district of the municipality of Mariana , which devastated more than 700km of the river banks of Rio Doce on November 5, 2015. Susanna explains the decision to tell two stories parallel in terms of time: “Although they seem to follow very different trajectories, both fight for the right to own the territory. Since the Portuguese arrived here there has been questioning about the indigenous right to Brazilian territory, where in fact the Portuguese are the invaders.
