Iris Freie

As a child, she was already fond of drawing and photography. Nowadays, she draws the images which sprout from her imagination. The pencil drawings are scanned and digitally processed into a colourful whole and printed on high-quality material. Her photographic eye is particularly stimulated when she finds herself in unknown territory. By travelling to distant countries such as India, a photographic travel journal arises. The exotic surroundings force her to observe even more closely, thus creating the need to record anything that touches her. This artistic expression is a welcome addition to her regular work.

What does it mean to you to have a studio at Ruigoord? And for your work?

‘Ruigoord is an oasis of peace for me, an escape from the rat race, in which I can experience more balance in my life. I have two consultancies and hold several executive positions. If I wanted to, I could work 60 hours a week. But I don’t want to! My studio in Ruigoord gives me the inspiration to organise my life differently. Although the studio is used as an additional workplace, it is also a place for reflection, where I can come to myself, and my imagination is stimulated to think outside the box.’
