EthericLandScrape

EthericLandScrape is an installation built into a recess in the landscape with compressed soil. It is a place of contemplation and connection to the greater natural whole: the spirit of the place. At a location on the edge of Ruigoord, where the fertile soil of the former island is overlaid with reclaimed sand, we dig down through the underground root systems - through time and consciousness to build a temple to the Symbiocene.

It’s constructed from recycled materials that reference the surrounding industrial landscape. The entrance is constructed from locally procured materials such as clay, shells and sand, which have been hand-pressed into blocks. Inside, a pattern was painted using chlorophyll from nettle plants. The structure features reliefs with images inspired by this landscape, history and alchemical symbolism.

Noorda's work explores contemporary alternative communities, countercultures, practices and beliefs, which frequently have mystical and magical elements. From installations to performances, she combines Reform pedagogy, art, dance, nutrition, ritual practices and crafts.
